Privacy
currency.ae is built to respect your privacy by collecting as little as possible. You can use the whole site anonymously. The one time we hold personal data is if you choose to subscribe to The Daily Brief by email — covered below.
- Who operates this site (data controller). currency.ae is an independent digital service operated from the United Arab Emirates. For any question about your data or this policy, contact us at [email protected].
- No accounts, no sign-up. There is nothing to log in to.
- No cookies, no advertising trackers. We don't set cookies, run ads, or use third-party advertising or marketing trackers. (We do use Cloudflare's privacy-friendly, cookieless Web Analytics for aggregate traffic — see below.)
- We don't ask you for personal data to use the site. There are no accounts and nothing to fill in to use the converter, rates, or any page — we don't ask for, store, or sell personal information about you. The only optional exception is subscribing to The Daily Brief, where we collect your email address, and only with your explicit consent (see The Daily Brief email below). (Our hosting provider still processes basic technical data such as IP addresses to serve and protect the site — see below.)
- If you email us. Writing to [email protected] shares your email address, your name, and anything you include. We use it only to handle your message and keep the correspondence for that purpose; you can ask us to delete it at any time at [email protected].
- Hosting. The site is served from Cloudflare's global network. As with any website, the hosting/CDN provider processes basic technical request data (such as IP address) to deliver and protect the site; see Cloudflare's own privacy documentation for how that infrastructure data is handled.
- Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-respecting, cookieless tool that reports aggregate traffic only. It sets no cookies and does not collect personal data or build a profile of you.
- Anonymous usage counter. On some tools (such as the cost calculator) we increment a simple anonymous counter so we know a feature is being used. It records counts only — no IP address, user-agent, cookie, or referrer is stored, and it cannot identify you.
- Your preferences stay on your device. If you personalize the site — for example starring currencies or customizing the Market pulse — those choices are saved only in your browser's local storage, on your device. They are never sent to us, and clearing your browser data removes them.
- Crypto "My Portfolio" never leaves your device. The optional portfolio tracker on the Crypto page is entirely client-side. The holdings and cost basis you enter are stored only in your browser's local storage, on your device — there is no account, and they are never transmitted to us or anyone else. Your profit/loss is calculated on your device against the live price; we never see what you hold. Clearing your browser data removes it.
The Daily Brief email (only if you subscribe)
- What we collect. Only your email address — nothing else. No name, no other fields.
- Why, and the lawful basis. We use it for one purpose only: to send you The Daily Brief, our once-a-day email. The lawful basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box and then confirming via the link we email you (double opt-in). We log the date/time and source of your consent so we can evidence it.
- Double opt-in. After you submit the form we send a confirmation email. Your address is only added to the list after you click the confirmation link. If you never confirm, it is discarded.
- We never sell or share it. Your address is used solely to send you the Brief. We do not sell, rent, or share it with anyone, and we run no ads and no third-party marketing.
- Unsubscribe anytime, one click. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, honoured immediately — no login, no "are you sure". You can also email [email protected] to unsubscribe or to request we delete your address entirely.
- How long we keep it. For as long as you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we stop sending and remove your address from the active list. (We may keep a minimal suppression record — your address in a "do-not-contact" form — solely to make sure we don't email you again by mistake; you can ask us to delete that too.)
- Where it's stored and who sends the email. The list is stored in our own database on Cloudflare (we own it; it is never locked inside a third-party marketing tool). We use Resend purely as the delivery service ("processor") that sends the emails on our behalf; they process your address only to deliver our email and under their own data-protection terms.
- Bot protection. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to block automated signups; it is privacy-respecting and sets no advertising cookies.
- Your rights. You can ask us at any time to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it — email [email protected]. These rights apply under the UAE PDPL (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) and, for EU/UK visitors, the GDPR/UK GDPR.
