Send Indian Rupee to UAE Dirham

The rupee-to-dirham rate is the return leg of one of the world’s biggest remittance corridors — checked by Indians in the UAE, visitors and anyone converting rupees to dirhams.

India and the UAE run one of the world’s largest money corridors. Most flows run from the Emirates to India, but the rupee-to-dirham rate matters to Indians relocating to the UAE, to travellers, and to businesses converting rupees into dirhams.

Structurally this is a dollar story. The Indian rupee floats under a managed regime overseen by the Reserve Bank of India, while the dirham is pegged to the US dollar at 3.6725 by the Central Bank of the UAE. Because the dirham side is fixed to the dollar, INR→AED moves almost entirely with the rupee’s value against the US dollar — not with anything specific to the dirham.

What it really costs to send

The rate shown here is the mid-market rate — the midpoint of the interbank buy and sell price, with no markup. When you actually convert rupees to dirhams, a bank, exchange house or app applies its own rate a little below this and may add a fee, so the dirham amount received is usually a little less than a plain mid-market conversion. We don’t quote any provider’s rate or claim a saving — check the mid-market rate here against the all-in total your service offers to see the true cost.
