UAE→Egypt is a large remittance corridor — and unlike the peg pairs, this rate has moved sharply.

A large Egyptian community works in the UAE, and the World Bank ranks the UAE among the leading sources of remittances to Egypt, so AED→EGP is watched closely by families sending money home.

The dirham is pegged to the US dollar at 3.6725 by the Central Bank of the UAE. The Egyptian pound, by contrast, has moved from a managed peg toward a more flexible, market-set rate through major devaluations — a float in November 2016 and further sharp devaluations in 2022 and 2024 under IMF-supported programmes, overseen by the Central Bank of Egypt. That is why AED→EGP has climbed steeply rather than holding flat: it reflects the pound weakening against the dollar the dirham is tied to.
